REDOT FINE ART GALLERY is honoured to be able to showcase a new series of works by the very hip and the very happening Aaron Kinnane, one of Australia’s brightest contemporary artist.
19 works, executed during a recent overseas residency in the beautiful Burgundy region of France, in a magical castle in the idyllic town of Créancey are a testament to Aaron’s growing talent, which has seen him have sell-out shows consistently over the last few years.
Those of you familiar with the gallery will know that we have steadfastly championed and focused our attention on Indigenous art for many years now. This journey, however, has recently bought us to a new crossroads.
An extremely exciting one at that, a crossroads where we have been able to carefully merge and nurture a dialogue between old and new, Indigenous and Contemporary, traditional and modern…
Aaron seamlessly fits into this dialogue, adding context to complex artistic discussions. Whilst his oeuvres are stunningly pleasing on the eye, they are also deep in meaning and sub-plots – insisting attention from the viewing public to understand the world Aaron sees and paints.
The residency in late 2017 to me signals a fresh turning point in Aaron’s progression as an artist. The works continue to build on the maturity of the quietly spoken and very respectful man that he is.
Parisienne paints, rural canvases, cheap local wine, new friendships all seem to have influenced these works, now seemingly more bold, extra release and passion in the gestural strokes. Increased awareness and self-confidence perhaps, or maybe I am just reading more into them than I should? Who knows…?
Perhaps he has found a place where the harmony envelopes the very core of his artistic practice and guides and encourages his bold strides forward, towards an inevitability of greatness.
We are very proud that Aaron has chosen us here to help expand the “gospel” that is Aaron Kinnane and we are very excited too to share these striking and breath-taking works with an audience that will quickly, I believe, come to realise why Aaron is now amongst Australia’s most important and collectable young living artists. I look forward to our mutual journey forward from here.
