Born to artist Brandy Tjungurrayi and Nowee Nangala, Ann (Frances) Nowee (Nanguri) comes from a lineage of fine painters.
She illustrates various mungari (food) found in her father’s country, Nyinmi. This country is located near the Gibson Desert, a long journey from her current home in Balgo. Divided by the numerous lines of colour that references the tali (sandhills), Ann depicts bora (bush potato), mangart (quandong) kumpurt (bush raisins). All the different foods are set against an array of various bush tucker seeds that are found throughout the desert.
