This painting describes a time when Wumali (Eva) was a young girl and used to play in her grandmother’s country, which is south of Lake Mckay. This painting depicts the country with the sandhills ( long parallel) lines, claypans ( long oblong shapes), rocks( small round circles) and bodies of water ( which are now dry). Wumali describes this country as special because it is where lots of different groups of people would come for ceremonies. For up to 3 months at a time people from across the Central Desart- Kiwirkurra, Kintore, Jagg Jagga and Balgo would gather, dance, eat mungari (food) and generally celebrate together. They would used the rocks to grind seeds to make damper, the red, white and motif is people makin fire. The painting has a central circle which represents all these different groups coming together.
