This place is Ilpinga, country close to Watarru. This is the place for the Kalaya Tjukurpa (emu dreaming). Ngayuku tjamuku Tjukurpa (this is my gransfather’s dreaming). The emus were building a wiltja (shelter) and that wiltja fell down on them. They made more bush shelters and although they worked hard they were not strong and fell down again. They made another shelter, but that also collapsed. The wiltja fell onto the emus back. Then they made a really large shelter and made it strong.

This is a true story from my grandfather’s country. My mother’s father. There are rockholes and flowing creeks after the rains.
