Antara is a sacred place for Anangu. It holds may tjukurpa (songlines) stories that cross this land. One of these stories is Maku Tjukurpa. Kungka Kutjara ananyi tjukula, a long time ago two women went to apu katu (top of the rock), the hill that surrounds Antara. They were singing inma (songs) and hitting the rock with a punu (stick). After they had finished singing, Maku tjuta came from the Maku tree (Ilykuwara) Witchetty Bush. This painting depicts this place, the rocks, rockhole and surrounding landscape.
