Brenda learnt this design from her mother Go’ovino when she was a young woman living in the old Ematé clan village Enopé. It is known as honohano’oho - the design of the leaf of the bamboo. Bamboo is an important plant for Ömie people and traditionally the hollow stems were used for a variety of purposes such as carrying water and cooking foods.
