Lila has has created an example of the first Ömie nioge (barkcloth) ever produced as told in the Ömie creation story.  Sujo, the first woman and mother of the world, dyed the plain barkcloth in the river mud at jov’e Uhojo (Uhojo River) when her first menstrual period stopped under instruction from Mina, the first man.  This is the very origin of Ömie barkcloth art and so this object is highly sacred for Ömie people.

Note: This is the second work of a series which also includes works ÖM10-059 and ÖM10-061.
