"Dulcie used to make these spiky porcupines when I first started coming to the art room. I was thinking to myself, I need to make a porcupine one day, so I made this one. And you know, that spiky porcupine, well it’s a favourite food for us. So if you want to get that porcupine, then go out bush. It’s the same way as how some people go to Woolworths to get their food, well we go out bush to get our food."
This is a soft sculpture made with recycled woollen blankets. The blankets are dyed using local Arrernte plants and rusty bits of metal. The blankets are then used as the base material for the sculpture.
