Dan was born at MacDonald Downs Station in the Utopia region. His country is Arrawarre, also known as Soapy Bore.

Although based in Alice Springs, Dan considers Soapy Bore his home community.

His heart and mind are very much devoted to this area, a connection that is reinforced through his paintings, which reveal his intimate knowledge of country.

Dan explores subject in various ways: geographically, botanically and historically - in both traditional and contemporary styles.

Most recently, Dan’s work has focused on the repeated journey he makes in a loading truck between Alice Springs and Utopia.

This subject qualified the artist as a Telstra NATSIAA finalist in 2009 and a TOGART finalist in 2010.

'Loading Truck' was acquired for the Araluen Centre's Collection in 2008.

Dan's work was selected for publication in the 2011 IAD Press Jukurrpa diary..
