Abie Loy Kemarre was born in 1972 at Utopia Station, 275 kilometers (170 miles) north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Central Australia.

Abie Loy Kemarre lives at Iylenty (Mosquito Bore) near Utopia Station with her family group comprising her mother Margaret, her brothers and sister and her grandmother, Kathleen Petyarre.

Currently, Abie divides her time between Adelaide, South Australia, Mosquito Bore and Mt.

Isa. Abie Loy Kemarre began painting in 1994 under the tutelage of her famous grandmother, Kathleen Petyarre.

Abie Loy Kemarre has custodial rights of the Bush Hen Dreaming which she depicts as a metonymic device in her Bush Hen Dreaming and associated Sand hills and Body painting series of works.

In 2004, Abie Loy began work on a new style of painting which relates to her Bush Leaf Dreaming story.

These highly intricate paintings continue to reinforce her position at the forefront of the Australian contemporary art movement.
