Artist / BENITA EVERETT

We don't currently have any works available by BENITA EVERETT

Benita EVERETT was born in 1980 in Derby. She attended Holy Rosary Primary School in Derby as a child, then went on to Derby District High School for her secondary education. In 1997, Everett met her husband Barry MALGIL and moved to the Warmun Community. They now have five children.

Everett paints the traditional country of her own family around Derby. Since moving to Warmun, her husband's grandmother has shared with her stories from Gija country. 'She tells us to draw that one,' Everett says. The traditional land of her husband's family is the subject of much of her work. In 2011 Everett was a finalist in Revealed, an exhibition in Perth that featured emerging Indigenous artists from Western Australia.

At ReDot Fine Art Gallery, we acknowledge all the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands of the artists we represent, both past, present, and emerging. We have profound respect for all Indigenous people, and we strive through a thoughtful and culturally sensitive curation process of their artwork to represent their “Tjurkupa” to our global audience.

We prioritise authentic representation and ensure that the artists' voices and perspectives remain at the forefront of our platform’s objective.

By fostering collaborative partnerships and engaging with community art centres directly, we aim to create a safe and inclusive space that celebrates and preserves Indigenous cultural heritage and its artistic legacy.
