Bertha was born at the old Balgo Mission where she recalls attending the government school, riding donkeys and swimming in local waterholes.
At the new Balgo Mission where Balgo is located today, she worked for the convent cleaning and serving meals.
More recently Bertha has been involved with adult education where she initially started producing artwork.
Here the artists were screen-printing and dyeing. Since then paintings have been produced on the ground at home with her family of five sons and two daughters around her.
Bertha believes that painting is the way to learn the Dreaming stories from the old people.
Besides painting Bertha is a keen hunter and collector of bush food and enjoys singing at the church..
