Lavinia was born in Cairns and grew up on Erub (Darnley Island) in the Torres Strait. She is one of six children and has an identical twin. All of her siblings were good at art in school.
Lavinia first joined Erub Arts as a Support Media officer and soon joined the artists. She mainly works with Ghost Nets and enjoys making fish and jewellery. She likes the bright colours of the nets and the many different things you can do with it once you unravel it.
