Lydia Balbal is a Mangala woman.

She is married to the Yulparija artist Nabiru Bullen.

Lydia's country is near Punmu in the Great Sandy Desert in WA .

She is part of the Yulparija whose existence was threatened by severe drought.

She traveled with her family to the coastal town of Bidyadanga (then LaGrange Mission) in the early 70s.

They were some of the last of the Yulparija people to leave their traditional country.

Lydia has only been painting since 2007..
