"This is a Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) story about a woman who went looking for water but couldn’t find any," Marika Patrick says.
"She went across the river near the hill and poked the ground with a stick until she found water coming out of the ground. Even now there is water coming out of that spot all year round. When she found the water she turned into a kingfisher and flew away."
This is the Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) for Yarangka, or Chinaman’s Garden.
