Mulyatinki was born around 1941 at Nyinyari.

Her mother was Warnman and her father was Manyjilyjarra.

Their country was around Punmu, Kunawarritji, Matakurlu and Karlamilyi River.

As a young girl, Mulyatinki travelled around the country between Punmu and Kunawarritji with her sister, Nancy Chapman before they went south into Karlamilyi (Rudall River). Mulyatinki was travelling around Karlamilyi with her sisters and their husband when she first saw whitefellas.

The whitefellas were travelling on horseback and hunting dingos with Martu people from Jigalong.

Mulyatinki and her family were frightened and they decided to stay in the desert.

Some of their men used to go and work for a time at the stations around Jigalong and then go back to the desert to see their families.

In 1966, Mulyatinki’s family decided to walk to Balfour Downs because there were few families left in the desert.

They were picked up by the same men they had seen hunting for dingos.

Mulyatinki lived at Jigalong and Strelley before moving to Punmu in 1982 with her children..
