Born in 1953, Racy Oui-Pitt grew up on Darnley Island. Her mother is from Darnley Island of Pacific Island and Torres Strait heritage and her father is from Badu Island of Torres Strait and Malaysian heritage.

Racy started making art in 2002 when she enrolled in a screen-printing course. When the CDEP (Community Development Employment Programme) Art Gang formed, she re-joined the Erub Erwer Meta Arts in 2005, doing lino-printing, screen-printing, pottery and jewellery with Lynnette Griffiths.

Racy states that her art is about her culture and her mixed heritage from both Torres Strait and the Pacific Islands, and aspires to continue learning and create art.
