DECEASED (NOV 2011) Wendy was born and grew up in a small community Wangkatjungka located 6 hours drive away from Balgo in Western Australia.
She moved to Balgo as a teenager where she was married Aboriginal way, to Robert Nanala who’s uncle/father Tjumpo Tjapanangka and mother Ningie Nanala were both significant painters for Warlayirti Artists.
Wendy started painting inspired by the elders and the encouragement given by Sister Alice Dempsey at the Adult Education Center.
Wendy’s former work focused on traditional icons such as coolamons and digging sticks, tracks and images of animals and bush tucker.
Wendy more recent work has developed into fine dotting interlocked to create the illusion of lines, her colours reflect the hues of the desert plains of yellow, oranges and red .
She now lives and paints at Mulan Community and continues to paint for Warlayirti Artists.
