The origin of Omie Bilums (String Bags). Omie history tells of how, in the time of the ancestors, there was a woman walking through the rainforest who came upon a spider. She stood mesmerised as she carefully watched the spider weaving it web. When she returned to her mountain village she was inspired to weave the first bilum, just like how the spider was weaving its web.
