This is Balgnin (water place) country near Mabel Downs Station. This is a bushtucker place where malarwun (seeds) are found and crushed to make damper that tastes like peanut butter. The seeds fall to the ground in September and October. They can be collected up and crushed between two hard stones. Some people call the seeds Malarwun. bush peanut.
Madigan has painted the tracks across her country that are followed to find Balgnin and to go hunting for this delicious bush tucker. Balgnin is also home for Jungurra (the magpie), and Ginyan (crane) live here. Balgnin is a Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) place for Jungurra and Ginyan.
