Eva Nargoodah was born in 1958 at Christmas Creek Station and grew up with her parents until the age of six. Her father was a stockman and her mother worked in the house. The family later moved to GoGo Station where Eva’s great-grandmother lived. They had moved there with the manager from Christmas Creek, whose name was Vic Johns. At GoGo Station, Eva’s father worked at the stock camp again and her mother in the house.

The family then shifted to Cherrabun Station where Eva went to school in 1965 at the men’s quarter. Eva had moved to many different places and from Cherrubun, the family went back to Christmas Creek. Eva spent her next few years at school in Derby and worked at the Christmas Creek school as a teacher. In 1984 Eva got married and now she has 9 children, 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Eva only started painting after her children grew up. She paints her grandmother’s country and what she was taught. Eva also paints her style of seasons, bush tucker paintings and her childhood memories of winter rains and cold weather. Today Eva lives with her large family in the Jimbalakudunj Community, 120km southwest of Fitzroy Crossing.
