Nellie is a senior law woman the younger sister of Bai Bai Napangarti and are both originally from a region called Yagga Yagga south of Balgo.

She married an important artist and lawman named Jimmy Njamme (now deceased) and they had six children.

It was through the influence of the many family that has become famous artists that Nellie commenced painting.

Nellie is a wonderful hunter and storyteller and is custodian to the Seven Sister’s dreaming at Nakarra Nakarra.

Nellie’s children continue the lineage of painting and her eldest daughter Monica was given permission to paint her father’s Tjukurrpa. Her painting subject and style has a bold and strong presence typical of those artists from this region..
