Roxanne was born in the Alice Springs hospital but grew up in Santa Teresa, Eastern Arrernte country. At Santa Teresa, she learnt to ride horses from her father who was a stockman, and who often spent long periods away working in WA. Her father’s country is the other side of Harts Range and her mother’s country is around Trephina Gorge along the Ross Highway.

When she was in primary school, her parents moved to Alice Springs so she could go to school at OLSH. Roxanne has three children. Her husband’s country is Number 5 Community near Harts Range. As an adult, she has lived in Harts Range, Amoonguna and in 2014, she moved to Larapinta Valley Town Camp. She has previously done a bit of painting but since moving to Larapinta she has discovered the art room and sewing. She says she loves coming everyday to the art room, she loves sitting with all the other women all around her. She says she is very excited by what she might be able to sew.
